” Salisbury Steak” & Mashed Taters

Looking Back Reflecting on Some of My Blog Posts, ive Noticed I Post ALOT Of Chicken! Today im Going to Switch it Up and Give You Something a Little Beefy, My Twist on Salisbury Steak. Now This Was My First Time Making This Dish & it Was Actually Accidental. As Usual I Was Trying to improvise w/ What I Already Had in the Kitchen &Of Course I Didnt Have All the Correct ingredients So I Had to Come Up With SOMETHING. Luckily That Something Turned Out Really Amazing!

Ingredients Used

  • 1 Pound of Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper
  • 1 Pack Bob Evens Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 Egg
  • Handful of Breadcrumbs ( Optional)

Now The Typical Salisbury Steak Requires French Onion Soup, Worcestershire Sauce, and Sometimes Dry Mustard. Since I Was Out of All Those ingredients, I Made Some Basic Meat Patties That Consisted of Ground Beef, 1 Egg, A Handful of Breadcrumbs & Some Creole Seasoning. I Mixed Everything into A Large Bowl & Portioned Out My Patties. I Didnt Want Them Too Big So I Made Them Half The Size of A Regular Hamburger. Once My Patties Were Nice and Shaped, I Placed Them in A Pan to Cook on Each Side As if I Was Making A Regular Burger. While The Meat Cooked I Started Slicing My Vegetables Julienne Style & Sauteed Them in A Pan w/ Some EVOO, Salt and Pepper.

Once My Veggies Where Sauteed, I Took My Finished Meat Patties & Put Them As the Same Pan as My Veggies. Now its Time to Get Started on My Gravy! I Took My Ground Beef Drippings & Combined it With Some Flour That Had Been Mixed Water to Thicken My Gravy. Once Blended I Poured it Over My Meat & Veggies. I Let That Simmer & Finish Cooking For About 5-10 More Mins While I Heated Up My Mashed Potatoes. Now Dont Get Me Wrong, I Love ME Some Good Homemade Mashed Potatoes, But When You Work As Much As I Do You Tend to Get Lazy. Bob Evens is The Next Best Thing to Homemade Mashed Potatoes in My Honest Opinion. Just Put A Pat of Butter in Those Bad Boys w/ Some Garlic Salt and Pepper, Then Pop That Sucker Right in the Microwave & BOOM You Got Yourself Some Pretty Darn Good Tasting Taters.
